The Benazir Nashonuma Program is a BISP nutrition program for pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under two years in low-income families. This guide explains who is eligible, the stipend, the documents you need, and how to register, in simple words.
The program gives a quarterly nutrition stipend plus health and nutrition support to fight child malnutrition. It works alongside the Benazir Kafaalat stipend.
What is the Benazir Nashonuma Program?
The Benazir Nashonuma Program targets the first and most important stage of a child’s growth. It supports mothers during pregnancy and after birth, and young children up to age two, so that poverty does not lead to stunting and malnutrition. Alongside the cash stipend, families receive health and nutrition guidance and specially fortified food, depending on what the centre provides.
Who is eligible
Eligibility is for BISP-registered (NSER) low-income families who are:
- Pregnant women
- Lactating mothers
- Families with a child under two years
A qualifying poverty score is required, and children usually need an EPI vaccination card. Confirm the current criteria at a Nashonuma centre or on the official BISP portal 8171.bisp.gov.pk. If you are not registered in BISP at all yet, start with our BISP registration guide.
How much is the stipend
Reported amounts are around Rs 2,000 per quarter for pregnant or lactating women and male children, and about Rs 2,500 for registered female children. The slightly higher amount for girls is meant to encourage families to register and care for daughters equally. Figures vary between sources and can change, so treat them as “as of” their date and confirm the current amount at your Nashonuma centre.
How to register
Registration is done in person at a Benazir Nashonuma centre, usually at THQ and DHQ hospitals, with biometric verification.
- Visit your nearest Nashonuma centre.
- Bring your documents (below) for verification.
- Complete biometric registration.
- Attend the regular sessions, which are required to keep receiving the stipend.
Documents you need
- Your CNIC
- The child’s B-Form
- A pregnancy or MNCH card for expecting mothers
- The child’s EPI vaccination card (for children under two)
Keep these originals ready for your visit. Requirements can change, so confirm with the centre before you travel.
Why attending sessions matters
Nashonuma is a conditional program. The stipend is linked to attending health and nutrition sessions and keeping the child’s checkups and vaccinations up to date. This is on purpose: the goal is healthier mothers and children, not only cash. If you stop attending, the payments can stop, so keep your appointments and vaccination card current.

Registration is free. Never pay an agent or share an OTP. To check your BISP status by CNIC, see how to check BISP 8171 online, or call the BISP helpline 0800-26477.
