Applying for a Punjab domicile online is one of the most common needs for students and job seekers, because a domicile is required for admissions, quota seats, and government jobs. This guide explains what a domicile is, the documents, the fee, and how to track your status.

A domicile proves which district you belong to. In Punjab it is issued by the district administration and processed through the e-Khidmat Markaz, so most of the work happens at one window with a token you can follow online.

Note: GoPunjab.pk is an independent information website. We are not the government “Go Punjab” (GoPb) app by the Punjab Information Technology Board. If you applied or paid inside that app, contact its official support, your e-Khidmat Markaz / DC office, or the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal — we cannot access or process your application.

What a domicile is and why you need it

A domicile certificate is an official proof that you belong to a particular district and province. Universities, government departments, and quota-based seats often ask for it, which is why a delayed domicile can put an admission on hold. Each person can hold a domicile for only one district. You can find official service information at ekhidmat.punjab.gov.pk.

A Punjab domicile is issued by the district administration, usually through the e-Khidmat Markaz.

How to apply for a Punjab domicile online

The exact route depends on your district, but the process generally looks like this:

  1. Go to your e-Khidmat Markaz (or the official district portal if online submission is available).
  2. Fill the domicile application form with your personal and residence details.
  3. Attach your documents and pay the official fee through the challan.
  4. Collect your token / receipt, which carries the number you use to track and to collect the certificate.

Documents you need

Keep clear copies ready. You usually need:

  • Your CNIC
  • Proof of residence in the district (utility bill, rent record, or property document)
  • Father’s or husband’s CNIC where relevant
  • A passport-size photo
  • Any extra document your district asks for (such as a matric certificate or an affidavit)

Requirements can vary by district and change over time, so confirm the current list on the official portal or at the markaz before you apply.

The fee and delivery time

As of the official e-Khidmat listing, the domicile service fee is Rs 200 (Rs 300 in Faisalabad), paid online, and the certificate is delivered within 16 working days. Fees and timelines can change over time, so confirm the current figures on the official portal and keep your paid receipt as proof.

How to check your domicile status online

You do not need to visit an office to track your domicile. Using your token or application (tracking) ID, you can check it online, by phone, or by SMS:

  • In the GoPb app, open the menu and tap “My Activities” to see your application status.
  • On the official website ekhidmat.punjab.gov.pk using your tracking ID.
  • By calling the toll-free helpline 0800-09100 (or 1317).
  • By SMSing your tracking ID to 9100.

For app-related help, you can also email the official support at gopunjab@pitb.gov.pk. If your domicile is delayed and no one is responding — a common frustration when an admission is time-sensitive — you can lodge a formal complaint on the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal, mentioning your tracking ID and application date.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Wrong district. Apply in the district you actually belong to; you can hold only one domicile.
  • Incomplete residence proof. Missing residence documents are the most common cause of delay.
  • Losing the token. You need it to track and to collect — keep the receipt safe.
  • Paying an agent extra. Pay only the official fee through the proper channel.

The domicile is one of several documents handled at the e-Khidmat Markaz. You may also need a birth certificate online in Punjab or a NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC).
