Benazir Taleemi Wazaif is the education stipend under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). This guide explains what it is, who qualifies, how much it pays, the conditions, and how to check it by CNIC, in simple words.

The stipend supports the school-going children of Benazir Kafaalat families, so that low-income parents can keep their children in school. Checking and receiving it is free and uses only your CNIC.

What is Benazir Taleemi Wazaif?

Benazir Taleemi Wazaif is the education part of BISP, previously known as Waseela-e-Taleem. While Benazir Kafaalat gives a quarterly stipend to the mother, Taleemi Wazaif gives an extra quarterly payment for each eligible child who attends school. The goal is simple: make sure that poverty does not pull children out of the classroom.

It is a conditional payment. The child must be enrolled in school and keep up their attendance for the family to keep receiving it.

Who is eligible

Taleemi Wazaif is for the children of active Benazir Kafaalat beneficiaries. In general:

  • The mother must be a registered Benazir Kafaalat beneficiary.
  • The child must be enrolled in school and maintain the required attendance.
  • Both boys and girls qualify.

How much is the stipend

The stipend is paid every quarter. The amount increases with the education level (primary, then secondary, then higher secondary), and is usually higher for girls to encourage girls’ education. There may also be enrollment and completion bonuses.

Reported figures change between years, so we do not list a fixed rupee amount here. Confirm the current amounts at your BISP Tehsil office or on the official portal 8171.bisp.gov.pk.

How to register your children

You do not apply for Taleemi Wazaif on a website. The steps are:

  1. Make sure the mother is a registered Benazir Kafaalat beneficiary (through the NSER survey at a Tehsil office).
  2. Visit your nearest BISP Tehsil office and enroll your school-going children for the stipend.
  3. Provide the children’s details and their school information as requested.
  4. Keep the children attending school, because attendance is checked.

How to check your status by CNIC

You check your overall BISP status, which covers Kafaalat and Taleemi Wazaif, by CNIC:

  • Online: enter your CNIC at 8171.bisp.gov.pk
  • By SMS: send your 13-digit CNIC, without dashes, to 8171

Why a payment can stop

Because the stipend is conditional, it can pause if:

  • The child’s attendance falls below the required level.
  • The child’s enrollment is not updated for the new class or year.
  • The mother’s Kafaalat eligibility changes.

Keep the child in school and update their record at the Tehsil office to keep the payments coming.

Stay safe from fraud

  • 8171 is the only official number. Ignore other numbers.
  • Registration and checking are free. Never pay an agent.
  • Never share your OTP or PIN with anyone who offers to “increase” or “release” your stipend.
